ESPN - Yanks send Chacon to Pirates, get Craig Wilson back
by SG

Link procured (thanks to James Varghese)
The Yankees traded pitcher Shawn Chacon to the Pirates for infielder Craig Wilson, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney reported.

Chacon is 5-3 with a 7.00 ERA in 17 games with the Yankees.

Wilson is batting .267 with 13 homers and 41 RBI in 85 games with the Pirates.

Another great deal by Cashman. I wish Chacon well in Pittsburgh, but this is a massive upgrade on offense and does not hurt the pitching staff at all.

UPDATE: From Peter Abraham's blog, the roster shakeout is starting.

Back shortly after we speak with Brian Cashman.

Aaron Guiel has been optioned to Columbus. Sidney Ponson has agreed to pitch out of the bullpen as the long reliever. Cashman says that Andy Phillips "definitely has a place on this team" and they will announce a move tomorrow.
